Project in a Weekend 2024
View/Point
This project took place on 16 to 18 August 2024
The models were Dark Muse Luisa and Voltaic Vixen
The project was shot on location at
Annesley Old Church, Darley Park and Derby.
Special thanks to Pizzamisu in Nottingham for quality vegan and vegetarian pizzas.
A year ago, I had an idea.
Why not get a group of creatives together, brainstorm some ideas, and then do them. Just like that. No wasting time, or flim flam. Simply see what happens.
This idea became ‘Project in a Weekend’.
The format was to meet up on a Friday for pizza and beers in a social setting and document ideas, themes, pictures and thoughts of all kinds.
On Saturday shoot these ideas as a photo project at a range of locations. props and wardrobe would be sourced in the morning with the shoot in the afternoon.
On Sunday sort the post production and upload to the world.
The joy of PIAW is that no one knows what will happen or how the ideas will turn out.
So here is my first attempt. It may happen again. Who knows.
But it happened in 2024.
Exploring Perception
The starting point for this project is the phrase
‘We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are’.
Thinking about this phrase led to thoughts about individual perception,
The duality of perception,
and that perceptions can be wrong.
The perception of spaces
Faceless images
Holding hands over the face
What do you see?
What is the story?
Look past the obvious
Is it me, or is it someone else?
What do you see with your blinded eyes?
What do you hear through the deafening sound?
How can you taste when your can’t get your fill?
Where can you touch when you aren’t feeling still?
