Project Zero
po:treit
Although I have been taking photographs for many years, I have only been arranging photo shoots with models since the summer of 2023.
As I have reviewed my work I have noticed a strange thing, an outcome that I did not expect, a happy accident you might say??
My approach has always been to develop a theme or framework for shoots, a ‘why’ that sits squarely behind the purpose of the shoot. I am not interested in taking photographs just for the sake of it, but instead trying to create art using story and narrative.
So as I have looked through different shoot images I have noticed that some of the strongest images are simply portraits. This was never my intention and I did not set out on this journey to be a portrait photographer.
A portrait is ‘a painting, drawing, photograph, or engraving of a person, especially one depicting only the face or head and shoulders’.
I therefore thought it would be a great idea to display these portraits on their own project page in a gallery format. Each tells its own story of joy, sorrow or loss. Each has its own back story and baggage to unpack. Each has its own ‘why’.
So take some time…
Sit and reflect upon these images…
And contemplate your journey in the eyes you see before you.
